Willis Knapp began working in the construction business in 1965 as a partner of Morton Masons in Morton, Illinois. In 1966, he ventured out from that partnership and began his own operation. As growth ensued, Willis moved his operation to Congerville, Illinois in 1968. He continued to increase his services to his customers to include masonry and concrete practices. In 1990, Willis retired and Steve Knapp took ownership. As the customer’s needs increased, Knapp Concrete expanded their services and equipment. With continued growth and demand for company services, in 1997 John Ott became a managing partner to assist in the leadership of the company. Through the years, the company experienced continued growth with the help of up to date equipment, state of the art technology, and, most importantly, high quality employees. In 2014, the Company headquarters were moved to our current location in Goodfield, Illinois, bringing with it further opportunity and the expansion of services to include recycling concrete and asphalt as well as onsite crushing of materials. 2015 provided a new milestone for the company as three of Steve Knapp’s sons – Tyler, Colin, and Gabe joined in the ownership and management of the company, introducing the 3rd generation of leaders to the organization.
